The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
My Answers?
Bukowski, Bukowski, Bukowski.
I’m not being facetious or trying to subvert this cool link-up.
It’s just that last year, I went berserk for Bukowski and ordered a number of his books.
I have Bukowski in both of the bathrooms I use and Bukowski by my bedside.
It’s not even that I love Bukowski… in fact, I find him rather despicable.
There’s another author I sort of deplore but whose work I have binged on in recent years: Augusten Burroughs. I just couldn’t get enough of him at one point, and I don’t even like the guy.
But yeah, this week, this fellow:
Are there any authors whom you do not particularly like, but whose work you consume?
laughing, not really. Usually if I don’t like the writing, I slog through the first few chapters and return the book to the library. The exception would be I don’t like how a person writes but what they are writing about is very interesting or new to me. Style vs content. It’s been awhile for one of those though as most of my offline reading is escapism : mysteries, science-fiction and fantasy. Online I’m more apt to read nonfiction, poetry and escapism as I read a wide variety of news/blogs/random stuff online. That’s also where I am more likely to encounter styles I don’t like married to content I do or vice versa.
