In another installment of the 10-line Poem Challenge, we are presented with a form created in honor of Allen Brady.
Brady’s Touch is a decastich made of 2 quintets with a specific rhyme and syllabic count.
- Line length: Each stanza follows the same pattern of 9-9-8-8-2 syllables.
- Rhyme scheme: abxcd abxcd
So here’s my go at a Brady’s Touch.
Fissures
Imagine, if you will, a wellspring
somewhere deep under a mountain tall
sending dark water coursing up
through many a little fissure
to light.
This, I think, is what is happening
psychologic’ly within us all –
giving vent to psyche’s wellspring –
whenever it’s our endeavor
to write.
Wow! I love this! And not just because it’s a Brady’s Touch, but because it’s beautiful, and rich, and so true. And I absolutely LOVE waterfalls! 🙂

I really like how the first stanza is full of natural imagery, while the second stanza compares it to a psychological state. Such a creative metaphor, and an apt one!
