between the inner and the outer harbors of Kodiak Island
at the top of the Aleutian Chain
(because who wants to spell archipelago)
in AK
where the float planes take off and land
there are round red buoys
twinned in reflection
on the water
Quadrille Monday at dVerse:
You are to write a quadrille, a poem of exactly 44 words sans title, that includes the word “harbor” or a form of the word. Using a synonym does not fulfill the prompt.
I love the idea of the landing strip being described here. Usually we think of a ship or boat in a harbor — and you’ve taken us to a place,(with a bit of humor built in for those of us who are spelling-challenged!) where a float plane looks for those two floating red buoys to find its safe harbor. With so few words, you’ve described a bit of a more isolated place…So well done! I’m glad you posted to the prompt — thanks for taking me on an arm-chair journey to this place!

I like the way you simply describe the harbor, yet make me see all the wilderness and adventure of those bushpilot machines taking off.

This reads like a WCW tribute. Completely taken into your scene. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
