An “American idiot”?
Please don’t redact me to just that!
‘Cause Bjork is better than Foghat
Although lovin’ is what I got,
Like a montage from a major motion picture
Where I go through my musical ABC’s…
My wife knows I prefer singer-songwriters; ask her!
Like Ani Difranco, Erykah Badu, and Harry Connick Jr.
Why, I’ve been in close proximity to folk legend Greg Brown
I’ll even link a song of his in case your interest is piqued
“Good grief! Now what’s he driving at? “
“I’ve bills to pay. Ignore the lout!”
“He’s wedded… or so he shouts…”
“Then why our way the coy eye-bats?”
Beg pardon – dismiss my peanut gallery of insecurities
For the record, it’s all writing for writing’s sake…
Ach! Writing about writing’s so passé, so gauche
God, I’ve lost the groove, just can’t find the right notes
Merely another American buffoon after all
Damn that peanut gallery anyway!
“Le lacrime di un pagliaccio
Quando ha bisogno di usare il bagno”*
On the blog of Ladyleemanila I find a new form to try:
The La’libertas, a 22-line (4/6/4/6/2) poetic form created by Laura Lamarca. The stanza rules are as follows:
Stanza 1 – rhyme scheme ABBA, 8 syllables per line.
Stanza 2 – Free verse, 6 lines ONLY
Stanza 3 – Rhyme scheme BAAB, 8 syllables per line.
Stanza 4 – Free verse, 6 lines ONLY
Couplet – Italian (Any language acceptable except)How the La’libertas for got its name is from the word “libertas” which is Latin for “liberty” and “La” is Laura Lamarca’s signature.
And then there’s this, from which I used prompts 1-12:

*”The tears of a clown when he has to use the toilet…”
love zour poem and the clever use of the words, Dan 🙂
